Our Work

The European Consumers Centres Network offers consumers across the European Union advice on their rights and legal protections when shopping and travelling in another European Union Member State or select European Economic Area countries. ECC-Net offices cooperate closely to help settle complaints between consumers and businesses based in different EU countries, as well as in Norway and Iceland.

Our process

If you are a consumer who has a dispute with a business located in another EU country, Norway, or Iceland, you should take the following steps:

  1. Make a complaint

File a complaint with the trader about the product or service you purchased. Make sure the complaint is registered and acknowledged.
  2. Request assistance

If you are unable to resolve your dispute with the trader directly, you can submit a complaint to the European Consumer Centre in your country of residence. Please find your local ECC here.
  3. Get a referral (optional)

If we are unable to assist with your consumer complaint because it is outside our remit or dispute resolution competences, we can provide you with advice on your legal and out-of-court options, which are all detailed here.
